It’s hard to stay motivated when your life is already full to the brim. I mean who has the time to workout, meal prep, walk 10,000 steps, log every single calorie in myFitnesspal, work at least 8 hours a day, take care of 2.5 children (or even just yourself), walk the dog, change the cat litter, listen to your significant other’s terrible work stories, attempt to have a social life...
(Jeez...I’m exhausted just trying to get through that sentence...there’s no way I have the energy to workout tonight…)
But never fear, because The Mountain is here with some free advice on how to stay motivated and get your 2016 Health & Wellness goals back on track!
We aren’t a bunch of exercise guru’s trying to sell you the latest health craze for just 3 easy payments of $19.95. We’re average everyday humans who’ve found some healthy tricks that work for us, and we want to share it with the rest of the #MountainTribe.
No matter how much you hate it, no matter how much it may hurt you need to stick with it because the end result will be worth it. Fuel your body. Eating a nourished diet is essential to a healthy lifestyle. This doesn't mean starving yourself or eliminating the foods you love. Choose the food that will support and enhance your new active routine, instead of working against it.

Set ACHIEVABLE goals! You're not going to change your couch potato ways over night, so don't get carried away with goals like "Become the Next Arnold Schwarzeneggar circa 1977 by next Tuesday". Start out small like reaching a daily step goal, or switching out the soda for water.

I've struggled with managing stress since as far back as I can remember. I’ve tried traditional meditation, but found meditation through nature, works best. I am the most at peace when I visit the ocean, or any body of water really. I sit alone by the water and run my fingers through the sand, or comb the beach searching for interesting rocks or shells. I let my mind wander, and after a couple of hours, I feel mentally and spiritually recharged.

Be efficient. I often use my busy schedule as an excuse to skip out on my steps, like "Oh, I have to go to breakfast with Molly so I don't have time to go to the gym..." but then I realized, I can catch up with my friends and family while I’m hiking with my dog. Getting them in at the same time makes me feel like it was time well spent!

The right playlist can help you get motivated and put your mind in the right place. Pick something that works for you. It might be calming instrumental, screaming metal, or even a long podcast. Just try to be consistent. You don't want to be startled out of your workout when the wrong song comes on. Whatever it is, escape into it because it's all about you!
